In addition to using the Ice ability to defeat enemies, Kirby may also use Ice to neutralize fiery blocks in order to break or walk on them. The Ice ability also appears in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, and is obtained through swallowing ice related enemies or touching Copy Essences. He can also use a bubbled ice essence to infuse the Bomb or Sword abilities with ice powers if he has the scrolls for those abilities as well.Įxclusively in this title, Kirby gains the ability to freeze the surface of water using his ice breath. An Ability Scroll can be obtained which allows Kirby to angle his cone of frost while breathing it. Ice appears again in this title, following its appearance in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. In Kirby: Squeak Squad, Ice can be used to freeze the surface of water. Game appearances Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land Frosty, and more obscure enemies like Emp and Frigis. Other sources of the ability include Pengy, Mr. Though once granting the Freeze ability instead, Chilly is the most common representative and helper for the Ice ability. Ice can also be combined easily with other powers and allies, as seen with his Animal Friend pairings, the Power Combos in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, and granting the Blizzard Power Effect to friends in Kirby Star Allies. In Kirby Battle Royale, Ice Kirby even gains the ability to conjure pillars of ice to block his opponents' way. In addition, he gains the ability to use the defensive aura attack characteristic of the Freeze ability, swallow foes and then spit them back out as ice balls, and even encase himself in ice for defense. One notable visual update has Ice Kirby skating along the ground when dashing as opposed to using his regular run. Ice's move-set would expand in a number of ways starting with Kirby Super Star, but it would not drift too far from its fundamental character. Using this ice breath also allows Kirby to cool down fiery hazards like magma blocks, or in Kirby: Squeak Squad, freeze the surface of water. While Ice's breath attack cannot be controlled as finely as Fire's, the secondary effect is that Kirby can kick enemies he freezes to make them slide forward, potentially defeating other enemies they collide with. In its simplest form, the Ice ability allows Kirby to breathe a cone of ice at his opponents to freeze them solid. Ice is among the oldest copy abilities in Kirby's arsenal, and serves as a natural counterpart to Fire, appearing in a similar number of games to that ability and having its own on and off again partner in the form of the Freeze ability. Using Ice, Kirby can cool down fiery obstacles from a safe distance. The ability is not to be confused with Freeze, a similar ability whose moves have been incorporated into the Ice ability in many of the latter's appearances (in a similar manner in which Burning and Fire are frequently combined). Later games starting with Kirby Super Star would give Ice Kirby an expanded moveset, such as skating along the ground, spinning while breathing ice through the air, or encasing himself in ice as a form of defense. Using this ability, Kirby gains a crown of ice and the ability to freeze foes and cool down fiery obstacles with a stream of frost breath from his mouth. Ice is a Copy Ability which allows Kirby to freeze enemies and is primarily obtained by swallowing certain ice-type enemies, such as a Pengy and Chilly.
